FOR SALE

1579 Lincoln Ave No. 312

1 BEDROOM | 1 BATH | 754 SQ FT | OFFERED AT $495,000

Welcome to 1579 Lincoln Ave No. 312, a top floor end unit in The Oaks, an elevator building in downtown San Rafael with pool, parking, and quiet community.

“We loved summer swims in the heated pool, sipping morning coffee with views of the hills, & cozy evenings in our quiet community. We’d often walk to downtown San Rafael to see film screenings at the local independent cinema.”

A treetop hideaway above downtown San Rafael

Tucked away as a corner unit on the top floor, this generously sized one-bedroom at The Oaks wakes up to a redwood canopy outside the bedroom windows and holds onto light throughout the day through north, west, and eastern exposures.

With no one overhead and only one shared wall, the home enjoys a rare sense of peace and privacy. The leafy outlook carries into the living room, where an open living and dining space centers around a wood-burning fireplace and extends to a private balcony.

The thoughtful remodel prioritized both material and quality. The eat-in kitchen is the centerpiece, with GE and Samsung stainless steel appliances, shaker-style solid maple cabinetry, Caesarstone quartz counters, Grohe fixtures, European tile and designer lighting. Sound-abating luxury vinyl flooring runs throughout.

In-unit laundry, upgraded electrical, and central heating and A/C handle the practical side. Storage is unusually generous for a condo this size, with closets throughout plus a separate, secure storage closet in a dedicated storage room on the same floor. One deeded parking space in the locked, ground-level garage is also included.

The Oaks offers elevator access, guest parking, Amazon package lockers in the lobby, and a gated pool and clubhouse. And just beyond the trees, downtown San Rafael and some of Central Marin’s favorites are within easy walking distance: coffee at Cafe del Soul, Puerto Rican at Sol Food, or a pint at Pond Farm Brewing. Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are nearby for everyday errands, while Highway 101, the San Rafael Transit Center and SMART make getting around the Bay Area easy.

Turnkey living from the treetops: light-filled, private, low-maintenance, and ready to move right in.

What we loved about our home

We refer to our home as “the penthouse” because it is the top floor, corner end unit with wonderful privacy & lush views! The Oaks is a well-maintained building, and living here was easy. We loved summer swims in the heated pool, sipping morning coffee with views of the local hills, & cozy evenings in our quiet community. This home holds special memories for us, as it’s where we lived when we adopted our dog, got engaged, & got married. We are so grateful for the 5-years we got to share with this space, & look forward to the right owners calling it home next!

We loved the convenience of our neighborhood; we’d walk to downtown San Rafael to see film screenings at the local independent cinema (The Smith Rafael Center / Mill Valley Film Festival), San Rafael Thursdays, 2nd Fridays Art Walk, & Summer Farmers Markets. Tucked up on the hill is a wonderful hiking trail (Robert Dollar Hiking Trail), and we also enjoyed walking over to the nearby Dominican University campus. On Sundays, fresh fruits & vegetables await at the Marin Farmer’s Market (just 1 highway exit away at the Civic Center!). There are 2 libraries close by – the beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Civic Center Library & downtown’s San Rafael Public Library. We’d often walk to downtown San Rafael to enjoy the diverse & delicious restaurants (Sol Food, Lotus, Royal Thai, Oliver’s Pizzeria, Laos Kitchen, TuTu Lounge, Menya Shono, & more!)

Commuting was ultra convenient – we both worked in downtown SF, so we loved that we could bike to the Larkspur Ferry! On rainy days, it was easy to catch a ride on the local 35 bus (from our front door) to the San Rafael Transit Center / 101 Golden Gate Transit Bus / SMART Train. With easy access to the 101, we’d regularly drive up to Sonoma/Napa for weekend daytrips or into San Francisco to enjoy the Presidio Tunnel Tops or Golden Gate Park with our pup.

The Oaks is a pet-friendly building, and our dog (Tywla) made friends with a neighbor dog (Lucky) who also lives on the 3rd floor! There are also a few sweet cats sprinkled around the building. We met so many kind neighbors walking our dog daily both in the building and around the neighborhood.

We would take Twyla for daily walks / hikes around the neighborhood & appreciated the local Robert Dollar Hiking Trail for wonderful panoramic views of the Bay Area. Benches & picnic tables are sprinkled around the nearby Dominican University Campus. The Civic Center has a lovely Lagoon that we would also walk, jog, & picnic around!

We have a dedicated garage parking spot, and guests are welcome to park in the outside spots! Storage was particularly generous; we had a dedicated storage unit on the 3rd floor, and 2 communal storage rooms on the 3rd floor.
